Chief Specialist/Professor/Associate Professor and Head of Department, Medicine, Radiotherapy and Oncology, KZN

My client is seeking candidates with the ability to provide leadership in a multi-disciplinary team. The successful will be judged on their academic and service performance, relevant research background, educational experience and administrative ability. Candidates must become involved in community outreach activities and develop individuals in their specific field of expertise.
This position is ideal for someone seeking to develop and grow their own knowledge as access to teaching facilities, communities and laboratories will provide opportunities for research across a wide clinical spectrum.

Minimum Requirements:
• Applicants MUST be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Specialist Radiotherapy and Oncologist
• At least 6 years experience as a specialist is essential
• A doctoral degree is necessary
• Candidate must have experience in all levels of clinical management in Radiotherapy and Oncology
• Research experience as demonstrated through publications in peer reviewed journals is essential
• Candidate must have experience in undergraduate and post graduate teaching and programmes
• An active research record is necessary
• Hands on experience in the supervision of research students
• Candidate must demonstrate evidence of management and administrative skills
• A drivers’ license is necessary

Preferences/advantages
• A track record of securing outside grants advantageous
• The desire to work both within the Faculty and externally on collaborative projects would be of benefit
• Experience in education/ curriculum development
